All students at Westgate Primary school were under starters orders this morning for the launch of the Daily Mile. The brainchild of a head teacher from Scotland the project is now starting to take the rest of the UK by storm.
Westgate are the first primary school in Bury St Edmunds to take on the challenge, hopefully leading the way for other schools to follow. The Daily Mile should have a massive impact on Health & Wellbeing for students and staff at Westgate. New for this year Health and Wellbeing within schools in Suffolk is headed by King Edward VI School.
Over 300 pupils from Westgate completed their 1 mile circuit along with the schools teaching and support staff. Also present was Colin Grogan from Suffolk County Council and Geoff Barton from King Edward VI school, both are ambassadors for Health and Wellbeing in Suffolk.
With some luck the Daily Mile will install a love of exercise for life!
